Arthur B. Calcagnini, Sr. Chairman of the Board Mr. Calcagnini received his Bachelors Degree in Economics from Georgetown University in 1954. He is the retired owner of Lombard and Co., a NYC commodities trade house. Earlier in his career, Mr. Calcagnini was the Director of U.S. Sugar Policy, U.S. Department of Agriculture during the Nixon/Ford Administration. Prior to that, he was President of Amerop Corporation, an international commodities trading firm. He is a former member of the Board of Managers of the New York Coffee, Sugar and Cocoa Exchange. He is currently Chair of the Board of Regents and a member of the Board of Directors of Georgetown University. Thomas P. Sutula, MD, PhD Co–Founder, Chief Technical Officer and Director Dr. Sutula is the Detling Professor and Chairman, Department of Neurology at the University of Wisconsin, a position he has held since 1995. He has also served as the Director for the Center for Neuroscience at the University of Wisconsin since 2000. From 1984–1995 he was the Director of the Comprehensive Epilepsy Program and Director of Electroencephalography at the University of Wisconsin Hospital. He maintains an active basic research program as well as a clinical practice specializing in seizure disorders. Dr. Sutula's work in neural plasticity and epilepsy has attracted international attention, and he is regarded as an authority on neural plasticity associated with epilepsy and memory disorders. Dr. Sutula has served on several national medical committees at NIH, sits on the editorial boards of three scientific journals, reviews numerous manuscripts for over 20 journals, and has published over 80 scientific papers and abstracts in peer–reviewed journals. Dr. Sutula participates in numerous steering committees at the University of Wisconsin and University Hospital, several of which he has chaired. Dr. Sutula is board certified in internal medicine, neurology and psychiatry. He is active in professional societies including the American Academy of Neurology, Society for Neuroscience and American Epilepsy Society. He served as President of the American Epilepsy Society in 2002. He received an AB in Chemistry magna cum laude from Princeton University in 1971, an MD from the University of Pennsylvania in 1975, and a PhD in Neuroscience from the University of Virginia Medical School in 1985. He has received numerous academic honors including Phi Beta Kappa, Sigma Xi, and Alpha Omega Alpha. William B. Armiger, PhD Co–Founder and Director Dr. Armiger has over 25 years of technical and business experience in chemicals, pharmaceuticals and biotechnology. He began his career by founding BioChem Technology, a research and development company developing, licensing, and commercializing products and technology for use in bio–processing. His career has also included positions with Arthur D. Little, The Catalyst Group, and Venture Catalysts. Dr. Armiger, founder of BioChemInsights, Inc., has led numerous business and technical projects relating to the development and production of fine chemical and pharmaceutical products by biotechnology and chemical synthesis. He has worked closely with chemicals and pharmaceutical industry clients in identifying strategic partners and structuring relationships for technology innovation and product marketing. He has also worked in business development and merger and acquisitions with specialty chemical companies using biocatalyst technology for high–value pharmaceutical intermediates. Dr. Armiger received a BSE in Chemical Engineering cum laude from Princeton University in 1971 and a PhD in Chemical and Biochemical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania in 1977. Until October 2007, Dr. Armiger served as the NGX Chief Executive Officer. In October 2007, Dr. Armiger resigned as the Chief Executive Officer of NGX, as NGX had, for the year prior, been unable to compensate Dr. Armiger a regular salary for his service. However, Dr. Armiger enthusiastically agreed to remain on the NGX board, remaining an active participant in NGX's business and efforts to bring its product to market. Jacqueline S. Doeler, MBA CFA, President and Director Ms. Doeler has spent over 20 years working for the State of Wisconsin Investment Board (SWIB). SWIB is the state agency that manages the pension fund for Wisconsin state teachers and public employees. It manages approximately $100 billion and is the nineth largest public pension fund in the country. Ms. Doeler held numerous positions at SWIB including Managing Director of Equities, Senior Portfolio Manager for a Healthcare Sector Portfolio, Assistant Portfolio Manager and Equity Analyst. Much of Ms. Doeler's career has been spent following and analyzing companies and industries within the healthcare sector. Ms. Doeler received a BA in Psychology from Purdue University in 1974 and an MBA from the University of Wisconsin–Madison in 1986. Janet Loewi, MBA Business Manager Ms. Loewi joined NGX as Business Manager in December of 2007. Ms. Loewi held a similar position at Bell Brook Labs prior to joining NeuroGenomeX. She earned her MBA in Finance with a specialization in International Business from the University of Wisconsin – Madison. Most of her career has been in the Banking industry where she worked primarily as a Commercial Lender and Credit Department Manager. Ms. Loewi has spent much time volunteering in her community, and currently serves on the Boards of the United Way of Dane County Foundation, Spring Harbor Neighborhood Association and Olbrich Gardens in Madison, WI. Dr. Sutula chairs the Scientific Advisory Board, which includes experts in neurobiology, molecular biology, neural plasticity, and diseases of the nervous system. The Board provides scientific advice and guidance to NGX management regarding opportunities and feasibility of potential new drug targets, and also provides guidance for development of infrastructure, new technical opportunities, and the setting of future research and development priorities.
